2008 is the National Year of Reading...
The 2008 National Year of Reading is a year-long celebration of reading, in all its forms. Everyone in Wales is invited to be part of the buzz of the Year of Reading!.
Reading is an essential skill for all aspects of life, and the Year of Reading is a great opportunity to highlight the importance of reading and to celebrate the pleasure and enjoyment that the written word can bring. Reading can open doors to new worlds!
In Wales, the Year of Reading is coordinated by the Welsh Books Council, with funding from the Welsh Assembly Government.
The year aims to encourage people to read in businesses, homes, and communities around the country, providing new opportunities to read and helping people to access help and support through schools and libraries.
August’s theme is: Read the Game. The influence of sport and how this can help promote reading.
