A visit to a beauty salon for a pampering treat, or in preparation for a special event is generally a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

If you have a special occasion on the horizon there are lots of things you can do for yourself too, such as relaxing, eating, drinking and sleeping properly in the months leading up to the event in order to give your skin a healthy glow.

If you can, have a series of facials to get your skin in tip-top condition and perhaps some relaxation sessions. Try out everything you are planning for the day well in advance, from eyelash tinting and eyebrow shaping to a manicure and fake tan, just to make sure that you like the look.

Always have a trial make-up session and be honest; if it’s not quite what you want then say so. The make-up artist will want you to be happy with the finished ‘product’ and won’t mind adapting your look.

Remember on the day itself that a concealer stick, lip gloss and light, reflective powder are handy for touching up make-up.

But most importantly, take the easiest step to glowing beauty - relax and smile!
